Darla Scales Scholarship Winner Honored

 

Ethan Cota, 2016 Recipient of Darla Scales Memorial Scholarship

Ethan Cota from Wanamingo was honored at the MAEOP Annual Conference in October 2016 as the Darla Scales Memorial Scholarship winner for 2016.

Ethan shared some information about himself:

As a student at Kenyon-Wanamingo High School, I have been involved in a variety of activities, including Honors Band, Theater, and National Honor Society. I am also a Minnesota Individual State Champion in wrestling, and three time state place winner. In my spare time, I enjoy helping out as a youth wrestling coach, volunteering for the local food shelf, and serving as a summer lifeguard for the City of Kenyon pool. Beginning in the fall, I will be attending Augustana University in Sioux Falls, where I plan to study Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, and I am also excited to continue wrestling at the college level for the AU Vikings.

This fall, I began my studies at Augustana University in Sioux Falls.  I also wrestle for the AU Vikings, Division II wrestling team. I am a Minnesota Individual and Team State Champion, and three time state place winner, voted the 2016 Class A Southeastern Minnesota Outstanding wrestler of the year. While a student at Kenyon-Wanamingo High School, I was involved in a variety of activities, including Honors Band, Theater, and National Honor Society. I wanted to let you know how thankful, and happy, I am to have been chosen as this years Darla Scales Memorial scholarship award recipient. This award means so much to me and my family and will help us immensely as I continue my education at Augustana University in the fall.

I would like to especially thank the MAEOP committee for selecting me as their 2016 scholarship award recipient. I feel extremely fortunate to have been chosen for this award and I am very grateful for MAEOP’s generosity and support. Thank you for believing in me and for providing this incredible opportunity.
